do you ever want to slap yourself in the face because you know you should be doing something productive but instead you choose to sit in front of a laptop for hours on end doing shit that has no beneficial impact on your life and this just happens day after day after day and still you refuse to accept the fact that you have a problem

GET IN MY BED RIGHT NOW TAHNO
Equalists fuck shit up: ladykorra: wait HANG ON... →
ladykorra:
wait HANG ON THEORY
what if tahno is just a real jerk to the fire ferrets and we all know korra isn’t allowed to hit him or she’ll be out of the tournament but he just keeps harassing them and it’s bringing the whole team down including mako
so asami lays the hurt on tahno…

Compliment your man’s “sharp” outfit by telling him that it can puncture the hull of an Empire class Fire Nation battleship, leaving thousands to drown at sea
because it’s so sharp

Fanfiction
Them: Fanfiction is so stupid, though. I mean, it isn't even creative writing!
Me: Oh? How so?
Them: Those people just take other writers' characters and plug them into different stories or places or times.
Me: Ah. Like BBC's _Sherlock_ by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.
Them: ...
Me: Their scripts are basically AU fanfics based on the works of Arthur Conan Doyle.
Them: ...
Me: And then, of course, there are lots of plays Shakespeare wrote just by using or re-working established stories and characters. _Hamlet_, _Romeo and Juliet_, _The Merchant of Venice_, _Much Ado About Nothing_....
Them: Yeah, but those guys are really great writers!
Me: Yes. And some of what they wrote would be considered fanfiction. As long as proper credit is given, and there are no attempts to make a profit on already-copyrighted material, what is the problem? Are you just concerned about the quality of the writing in fanfics?
Them: I guess...
Me: Well guess what? Some fanfic authors today are amazing writers. Some are not. Some published authors of original stories today are amazing writers. Some are not.
Them: ....
Me: So maybe it's time we get over it?
